چکیده

In this paper, a coherence function technique is introduced for Tangible Acoustic Interfaces (TAI) using the Location Template Matching (LTM) approach. A simple workflow is proposed for the purpose of evaluating the performance of different TAI techniques and investigating the effect of various parameters based on experimental data. Performance analysis shows that the method of magnitude squared coherence outperforms the traditional method of using time-domain cross-correlation in terms of both resolution and reliability.

Tangible Acoustic Interface Approaches

This paper describes two acoustic impact localization techniques for tangible interface applications. A rising-edge detection method was used for the time delay of arrival (TDOA) approach and a cross correlation analysis for the location template matching (LTM) approach. These methods were experimentally investigated using tangible objects of different materials with different types of acoustic...

Application of Tangible Acoustic Interfaces in the Area of Production Control and Manufacturing

This article explores how physical objects like machine housings can be transformed into natural, seamless, unrestricted touch interfaces. The objective is to design multimodal tangible acoustic interfaces (TAI) that bridge the gap between the virtual and physical worlds. The methods presented are based on the principle that interacting with a physical object modifies its surface acoustic patte...

Tangible Acoustic Interfaces and their Applications for the Design of New Musical Instruments

Tangible Acoustic Interfaces (TAI) rely on various acousticsensing technologies, such as sound source location and acoustic imaging, to detect the position of contact of users interacting with the surface of solid materials. With their ability to transform almost any physical objects, flat or curved surfaces and walls into interactive interfaces, acoustic sensing technologies show a promising w...
